Senior Designer

Aventus Energy is looking for a Senior Designer to provide technical discipline expertise as part of our multi-disciplinary engineering teams. The Senior Designer will be responsible developing design solutions across a wide range of structural engineering projects and challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Execution:
- Deliver design solutions by ensuring project deliverables are technically correct and meet the required quality and industry safety requirements.
- Responsible for drafting high quality technical drawings under the direction of the Lead Designer.
- Responsible for ensuring that check and approval of design deliverables is carried out by Engineering, Design and Construction prior to issue.
- Support the quality assurance process by ensuring that technical files and project folders are effectively maintained with checked and back-draughted copies in evidence.
- Support the upkeep of design technical standards, software, procedures, team training and development.
- Ensuring that work is carried out according to company processes and procedures.
- Conduct design reviews and technical evaluations to ensure designs are optimised for fabrication, installation, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines (e.g. ASME, ISO, DNV, API, Eurocodes etc).
Multi-Disciplinary Coordination:
- Work within the wider team of engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction.
- Work closely with structural, mechanical, piping, and process engineers to ensure fully integrated designs.
- Ensure design changes and technical clarifications are actioned according to project requirements.
Technical Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Drive innovation by implementing new technologies, digital tools, and design best practices.
- Identify opportunities for optimisation, cost reduction, and improved efficiency in design solutions.
- Support research and development initiatives for energy transition and renewable energy projects.
Team Development & Mentorship:
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior designers.
- Conduct training sessions and knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance team capabilities.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Conduct engineering risk assessments and ensure mitigation strategies are in place.
- Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies throughout all engineering activities.
- Support regulatory compliance efforts, including certifications and approvals from industry bodies.
Budget and Cost Control:
- Support the commercial and technical bidding process by estimating project budgets and other bid development activities including establishing and maintaining norms.
- Work with procurement teams to ensure the cost-effective selection of materials and resources without compromising quality or safety.
Qualifications / Requirements / Experience:
Education:
- HNC Qualification/Certificate in Design or Engineering courses, or a related field is desired.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of design experience within the energy sector, preferably in offshore and energy projects.
- Prior experience within an engineering consultancy environment is preferred.
- Awareness of EPCI project execution, with an understanding of the full lifecycle from design to installation.
Technical Skills:
- Experience in energy engineering, including knowledge of design principles, codes, standards, and construction methodologies (e.g. ASME, ISO, DNV, API, Eurocodes etc).
- Demonstrable experience in industry standard engineering software (e.g. AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc).
